About
Welcome
I’m Amy, a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist.
I am based in Carrick-on-Suir and see adults and teenagers in person in the Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre, and also offer online services.
I use an approach which can be adapted to the individual needs of the person. You can read more about the type of modality I use in the Services section.
Background
Before becoming a counsellor and psychotherapist, I worked as a SNA and Social Care Worker. In these roles, I supported children, teenagers, and adults with additional needs or disabilities, along with their families. Many of them had faced challenges related to trauma and attachment, or had persistent mental health issues.
Additionally, I have experience working with Childline and Text About It, offering support to individuals in the form of a conversation or crisis assistance.
I am most passionate about working with teens and adults who have had struggles in their relationships, especially their relationship with themselves. My aim is to help you to understand and accept yourself, so that you can make changes when you feel ready.
I love working with people and I strive to provide a safe space that is LGBTQI+ affirming, neurodivergent affirming, and pro-choice. In our sessions, you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment. It is important to me that you feel heard and understood, as we work together to navigate the complexities of your journey.
Please get in touch through the contact page today to arrange a no commitment, free, consultation call. This is just a chat to make sure I am the right therapist for you or your child.

Services
Sometimes life gets tough, and that's okay. Almost everyone experiences mental health difficulties at some point in their life.
Talking to a counsellor or psychotherapist gives you a private, safe space to share your story without fear of judgment.
It helps you make sense of how things have affected you. Therapy brings clarity and self-awareness, giving you the power to make positive changes in your life and relationships. It also gives you the tools to set boundaries and live your life the way you want.
My approach
I believe in an integrative approach to therapy, which means I adapt therapy to meet your specific needs.
My focus is Person-Centred, but I also draw from different models of therapy, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis, and more.
I aim to provide you with a helpful and supportive experience, tailored to you. For example, if you're dealing with anxiety, we may use CBT techniques to develop strategies to manage it effectively.
I work with adults and teens experiencing a broad range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and identity issues.
My focus is on helping those who've been through difficult times, working through their past and offering support. I'm deeply committed to helping individuals process their experiences and understand how it impacts their present.
